Mark Martin posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session with a 189.409 mph.
Our View Martin only took nine laps total, but he made the most of them. Last year, Martin tried to take the nickname "Rocketman" away from Ryan Newman and he should be considered a threat for the Kobalt Tools 500 pole.
