NASCAR Raines going home from Michigan

When two cars withdrew from the entry list earlier this week, that meant only one driver would head to the house early. That driver is Tony Raines, with a speed of 181.484 mph.

Our View This is a start and park operation, however, so it has no impact on fantasy players whatsoever.

Bean, Raines, Wallace slowest "go-or-go-homers"

Dexter Bean (172.678), Tony Raines (174.109) and Mike Wallace (175.154) were the three slowest "go-or-go-home" drivers and are the most likely to miss the show.

Our View: Wallace and Raines are running "start and park" car, so it's hard to muster much sympathy for them, but it would be nice to see Bean pick up the pace and make the show.

Of course, that is practically impossible since he needs to pick up more than three miles per hour.

LifeLock 400 roster posted

The roster for the NASCAR Cup LifeLock 400 has been posted and only 44 drivers are listed. In addition to the regular cast of characters Tony Raines in the No. 37, Bill Elliott and Max Papis will attempt to make the show.

Our View: This is good news for most of the "go-or-go-home" drivers. Our best guess is that Raines will be the odd man out.

Raines replaces Andretti at Darlington

While John Andretti is in Indy practicing and attempting to qualify for the Indy 500, Tony Raines will climb into the No. 34 this week and race at Darlington, according to this week's entry list.

Our View: The No. 34 remains in the top 35 in points, so Raines is guaranteed to start. He's not the first driver you should select for your Southern 500 roster, but the veteran is strong on short tracks. Measuring less than a mile and half in length, this track takes a lot of experience to navigate. For more on this, see also this story at SceneDaily.com.
