Bristol pit stalls

Jayski has published the pit stall selections for the Bristol race.

Our View There are really only four good stalls at either end of the front and back pits. Pole sitter Mark Martin took the final pit stall before turn one, Greg Biffle has the final stall before turn three while Matt Kenseth and Scott Speed have the first stalls entering the pits. However, Clint Bowyer also is in a nice position; he is in pit stall four with the start and park Dave Blaney immediately ahead of him.

For a complete list of the stalls, visit Jayski.com.

Stewart, Kahne and Blaney to race 410 sprint at Sharon

Tony Stewart will make a rare start in a 410 Sprint car at Sharon Speedway, according to WhoWon.com (caution, this site is notoriously bad about pop-ups). He will be joined in the Lou Blaney Memorial Classic by Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney.

Our View: That makes this a star-studded event on a track owned by the Blaney family.

Action packed Michigan practice 2

Looks like television picked the wrong session to go dark: In the first practice, Jimmie Johnson spun either just in front of or off the nose of Tony Stewart and then Max Papis crashed with Dave Blaney, according to tweets from @NASCAR_Says and @NASCAR_TNT. And this is just practice.

Johnson and Stewart appear to have survived without damage.

Neither Papis nor Blaney returned to the track in that session.

Our View: Rain is in the forecast for later in the afternoon, and apparently there is a sense of desperation.

Pocono "go-or-go-homers"

This week's entry list features 46 cars. In the event that qualification is canceled, the following drivers would make the show: Sterling Marlin, Scott Speed, David Gilliland, Joe Nemechek, Patrick Carpentier, Dave Blaney, Mike Wallace and Regan Smith.

Our View: That means Trevor Boys, Dexter Bean and Derrike Cope would be going home—and those are also the drivers most likely to be the slowest on speed as well.

Truex wins Richmond practice 1

Martin Truex Jr. posted the single fastest lap in the first practice session at Richmond for the Crown Royal 400 at 123.046 mph.

Our View: His average speed was not bad either, with an average of 119.407 mph during 39 laps. He should be watched closely in Happy Hour and could be a solid dark horse. The only two drivers who beat his mark in terms of average speed were "go-or-go-homers" Joe Nemechek (120.196 during 12 laps) and Dave Blaney (119.595 during 17 laps), but they were not working on race trim.
