Hamilton wins Singapore GP

Lewis Hamilton posted his second victory of the season by winning the Singapore Grand Prix after starting from the pole.

Our View Hamilton's first win this season didn't come until race 10 and the Hungarian Grand Prix and previous to that his best result was fourth in the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Since Hungary, however, Hamilton has three poles and two wins in five races plus another runner-up result in Spain.

F1: No KERS for BMW / Sauber

BMW / Sauber will not utilize the KERS system this week in the Turkish Grand Prix, according to Formula1.com. Team principal Mario Theissen said, "there are only two free practice sessions to check out the new aero package and we think that the risk of getting off track by trying out a new KERS configuration at the same time is higher than the potential gained."

Our View: Nick Heidfeld needs some help. He finished second on the Sepang Circuit and was seventh at the Circuit de Catalunya, but the remainder of his 2009 results has been outside the points.

F1: Glock disappointed with Spanish performance

"It was a tricky weekend and in the end it was really disappointing. We all hoped for a lot more from the Spanish Grand Prix so to finish in 10th-place was way below our expectations," Timo Glock told Formula1.com following last week's race.

Our View: While Formula 1's point system is heavily skewed toward the top finishers, most fantasy games award points throughout the grid, so drivers like Glock need to be maximized when they run well. Unfortunately, that was not the case in Spain.

F1: Spanish GP Recap

Formula1.com has published a snapshot analysis of the Spanish Grand Prix, and no one will be surprised to see Brawn Racing highlighted after Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello swept the race.

Our View: Two traditional powerhouses, McLaren and Williams struggled, which makes this an interesting season to handicap.

F1: Spanish Grand Prix Results

Jenson Button has gotten off to an amazing start in 2009 by winning four of the first five events on the Formula 1 calendar, but the Spanish Grand Prix was a study in domination for the entire team. This week, Button led teammate Rubens Barrichello to the line. Team orders may have come into play, but either way, both drivers earned maximum points.

F1: Ferrari Spanish GP preview

The season may already have four races under its belt, but the emotional start to the year happens when the series runs its first European race, according to a press release from Ferrari.

Our View: Ferrari will be challenged with a new chassis and aero-package this week and their thoughts about how this will impact Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa can be found in this release.

F1: Massa loves Spain

Felipe Massa told press this week: "in terms of the car, we have made a good improvement since the last race, but you have to remember that the other teams are not sleeping and they have also been working a lot to improve their own position," according to a team press release.

Our View: In six previous starts on the Circuit de Catalunya, Massa has amassed an average finish of 5.3 in six starts. He also has a victory on the Valencia Street Circuit, which makes him a master of Spain.

F1: Drivers side with Ferrari

Max Mosley may believe Formula 1 can survive without Ferrari, but most of the drivers in the sport do not agree, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View: Drivers are concerned that politics will damage the sport, but that has never kept this fiery sanction from following their own council. “Without Ferrari it’s not Formula One anymore,” Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella said Thursday ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

F1: Spanish Grand Prix quotes

Formula1.com has posted quotes pertaining to the Spanish Grand Prix on their site.

Our View: Fantasy owners always want to take drivers' comments about their car with a grain of salt because no one wants to speak ill of their ride, but this can be an interesting way to take their temperature.

F1: Raikkonen in new chassis

Kimi Raikkonen will race a lighter Ferrari in the Spanish Grand Prix, according to Formula1.com.

Our View: The lighter car will allow him to make better use of the KERS system. His teammate Felipe Massa has not struggled nearly as much in his heavier version. While Raikkonen hasn't been all that strong this year, he has steadily improved from 15th to sixth in four races.

F1: Spanish GP preview

The Spanish Grand Prix could be a pivotal race for teams, since it will be teams' first chance to test the new aerodynamic package, according to Formula1.com.

Our View: The series has virtually banned testing this year, so track time is the only way drivers will improve. Normally a top heavy sanction that benefits well-funded teams, this might just level the playing field.

F1: Uncertainty breeds excitement in Spain

Most Formula 1 teams tested in Spain during the off-season, but with four point-paying races under their belt, uncertainty reigns among teams. That also makes this an exciting race, however.

Our View: "The schedule for the first four races was very tough for everyone, so going back to Europe almost feels like a fresh start," Lewis Hamilton said. Check out Formula1.com for more quotes and comments about the Circuit de Catalunya.

F1: Spanish GP Avg. Finishes

The Spanish Grand Prix is just around the corner and here is a little help to set your roster.

Lewis Hamilton tops the average finish charts for the Spanish Grand Prix, although he has yet to win and started only two previous races. He finished second in 2007 and third in 2008. Las year's winner Kimi Raikkonen might not be your best choice this week since he has only the seventh best average result.

F1: Nakajima looks forward to Spain

Kazuki Nakajima is looking forward to running the Spanish Grand Prix, according to a press release by the team.

Our View: Last year, he nearly broke into a point paying position when he finished seventh in this same race, but so far this year his best result has been only 12th in April's Malaysian Grand Prix.
